Blooming Meadows & Habitat
This ecological design project was driven by the goal of significantly reducing impervious surfaces and eliminating nutrient runoff into the Whipple Creek watershed. Through a multi-month design process, we developed a system that includes a low-maintenance, biodiverse turf (microclover and native florals), extensive native plantings (Camas, Shooting Stars, and 200 grant-funded plugs from the Clark County Conservation District), and the enhancement of a natural spring into a stabilizing vernal wetland. The site promotes chemical-free foraging for local wildlife and embodies the client's commitment to local ecosystem health.
Creekside Estate
Welcome to our Romantic Style Garden! Our garden design features a full production vegetable garden and a pollinator friendly plant palette. Enjoy the beauty of nature while harvesting fresh produce and supporting local pollinators.
Purely Habitat
This suburban home serves as a haven for local wildlife, offering a habitat for a diverse array of insects, birds, and other creatures. This backyard focuses on using native plants from the Portland Plant List and has earned a Gold Level rating through the Backyard Habitat Program, which is run by Columbia Land Trust and Portland Bird Alliance (formerly Audubon). It's a wonderful example of how we can all do our part to support the environment and the creatures that call it home.
Dunes at the Beach
This project was created to seat this dream retirement home into its seaside habitat. We restructured the dunes and utilized native vegetation blended with some ornamental plants that the clients really wanted to grow for cut flowers and fall color. We also installed an Eco-lawn containing micro-clover and select native meadow flowers. Jeffro Uitto, a local artisan, created the deck skirting and the Logs in conjunction with our design team. The sunsets are captivating and the nights around the fire pit outside are magical.
Zen Spaces
Zen spaces have always been peaceful and full of art. They include elements like sculpted evergreens, natural rock features, trickling water, and harmonizing chimes. Many of our projects have incorporated these elements in place of plain lawns. We have tried to create a journey through these spaces for the clients to view their art elements and to engage in the tranquility.
Urban Meadow and Veggies
This project involved a holistic landscape transformation of an urban forest residence, prioritizing ecological function and sustainable food production. Key components included the installation of a low-maintenance, mowable flowering meadow turf (Fall 2025) and the development of a high-efficiency raised-bed edible garden system. The four custom Vego Garden Beds were prepped with a proprietary mineral-rich soil amendment strategy, utilizing ERW Basalt and Zeolite Mineral Sands from Alpine Minerals. This approach is designed to cultivate a robust soil microbiome of beneficial fungi, bacteria, and protists, ensuring optimal nutrient delivery, enhanced crop mineral density, and natural disease and pest suppression for superior Nutrient Dense garden output.
